New UK car sales reach highest level since 2008 for September

The latest figures released by the The Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have shown that newly registered cars in the UK have risen by 12.1% compared to September 2012.
Sales have been pushed up by Ford's Fiesta which was the top selling car in the UK with 20,600 sold in September.
The SMMT's chief executive, Mike Hawes, said:
The UK market is reflecting growing economic confidence.
Robust private demand has played a major role in this growth, with customers attracted by exciting, increasingly fuel-efficient new models which offer savings in the cost of ownership.
The private market has rose by 17% with attractive finance packages helping increase vehicle sales within the UK.
Fleet and business volumes has been on a steady upward path since mid 2009.
Ford are holding both 1st and 2nd spots for year-to-date sales with the Fiesta selling 96,047 and Focus 71,424. Following in 3rd is Vauxhall's Corsa (67,748) and fourth the Vauxhall Astra (53,338).
